What’s my position on Zionism? If you want to have a Jewish homeland in Israel, go for it. Borders, language, culture. I’m a nationalist that believes in the cultural preservation of nation states throughout the world.
However, some Zionists are waiting for the coming of the Messiah. Well, I cannot support that because then I would have to reject my belief in Jesus Christ as Messiah and King of the Jews (not to mention King of the Universe).
Well, if that makes me anti-Zionist, then perhaps really, you’re just anti-Christian. And there’s more Christians than Jews in the world, by a long shot, so it would be wise to not hate and spit on Christians and learn to get along. Zionism is a recent social/political/religious phenomenon with a beginning in the 19th century.
If you’re an American you’re not obligated to support the identity politics of anyone, let alone some Jews. Plenty of Jews don’t support Zionism. If you don’t give a flying damn about Zionism that’s your right. Where does it say in the US Constitution I have to support any political system? Especially the identity politics of any ethnic group? My Catholic religion certainly doesn’t obligate me to.
Another legitimate problem is that there are fanatical Jewish (and otherwise) American Zionists that are Israel first and not America first–the country they should have 100% allegiance to. To say this is anti-Semitic, a lie or an exaggeration is itself a lie. There are those Americans that place Israeli nationalism ahead of their own country – or confuse American interests with Israeli interests – and this imperils us all. Especially when it comes to giving over US defense and industrial secrets and taxpayer money to Israel.
Would we allow this with other racial or ethnic groups that demonstrate solidarity in a way which puts America in second, not to mention a possibly dangerous, place? Do we want a house divided of Iranian, Chinese or Russian dual citizens in Congress and the Senate?
Under Christ we are all one family without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, economic or social status. Catholic means universal. The universal religion (i.e. relationship, binding, ark of salvation) that encompasses all peoples under one umbrella of salvation. No ethnic solidarity or supremacy as chosen by God.
Jesus Christ leveled the playing field. Salvation is from the Jews and all the original Christians were Jewish. So there you go.
In the Bible it says whoever blesses Christ, not Israel, will be blessed. So don’t twist scripture. Most of the Christian Zionist politicians that quote the line of blessing Israel or being cursed by God would sell their mother out for a vote. They’d sell the US Constitution out for a foreign lobbying buck or two, no less.
The meaning of that phrase is pertaining to Christ, not Israel. Much less the present, secular state of Israel that allows massive abortion and homosexual pride marches–both an affront to God. As a matter of fact, abortion is so prevalent in the holy land of Israel, one wonders how they can tolerate it when it may prohibit the coming of their Messiah, since he could be the one they’re aborting.
Quote: [That line is the heart of Genesis 12:3, part of God’s covenant with Abraham:“I will bless those who bless you (Jesus), and whoever curses you (Jesus) I will curse; and through you (Jesus) all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”]
Quote: [Galatians 3:8,16 (St. Paul) says: “Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ … The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed … meaning one person, who is Christ.” Thus, the universal blessing promised to Abraham comes through Jesus, the Messiah, born of Abraham’s line.]
As a matter of fact, Christ cursed the fig tree, symbol of Israel. That spiritually, thereafter, it would bear no religious fruit. And it really hasn’t. I guess that makes Jesus a hater and cursed, if we are to take some crackpot Christian Zionist cranks literally.
Quote:
[St. Augustine often read the fig tree as symbolizing the synagogue of his time — those Jews who had the Law and the Prophets (the “leaves”) but did not recognize Christ (the “fruit”). The tree represents “the Jewish people, who were full of leaves, that is, words, but lacking fruit, that is, deeds.” Just as other prophets acted out signs (Ezekiel lying on his side, Jeremiah smashing a pot), Jesus’ cursing of the fig tree was a prophetic teaching tool. The cursing is not an outburst, but a prophetic sign of God’s judgment on fruitless religion.]
The Jewish religion basically stopped 2,000 years ago: They have no priesthood, no sacrifice (animal sacrifices) and no temple. Jesus said the temple would be destroyed and it was. Christianity is not a replacement theory. It is a completion fact. Judaism is true but an incomplete truth only to be fully realized – the prophesies of the coming Messiah in the Old Testament – with the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The Gospels are now complete. It’s not a replacement theory. It is Christianity in its essence. Christ is the sacrifice. The Catholic Church provides the priesthood and temple, along with the temple of the Holy Spirit which are those Christians in a state of supernatural grace. Jesus is the new Adam. Mary the new Eve. The Church is the new Israel. With a heavenly Jerusalem above…
It’s the Christian Zionists who have twisted scripture to fit their own interpretation of the Bible for political purposes. These people are their own authority, not the Bible. Why? Because they interpret the Bible as they see fit.
It does not help Israel at all to live in spiritual or political delusion siding with Christian Zionists who can’t even find their spiritual Alimentary Canal from a hole in the ground. Take, for instance, The Meatball with Legs (and Catholic hater) Pastor Hagee. I guess Mark Levin thinks an alliance with the meatball is in Israel’s best interests when, really, it has no grounding in religious-historical reality since the Meatball thinks delusionally, while in a perpetual state of magical, wishful thinking. In a word, he’s a Christian Zionist Utopian. Utopianism is a vice, not a virtue. Certainly not a Christian virtue. Hence, a meatball divided cannot stand…especially on top of spaghetti (see video below).
Guys like Ben Shapiro cannot make decisions in Israel’s best interest because they lack basic wisdom, counsel and spiritual understanding. That’s why he was originally a knee-jerk anti-Trumper when Trump has turned out to be the best thing for Israel since sliced bread with whipped cream and a cherry on top.
Israel is a secular state that will do business with communist China as readily as it does business with America or Saudi Arabia. As a matter of fact, if the US dumped Israel they’d probably jump over to form an alliance with communist China or Russia if it benefitted them.
They are like a desperate, drowning man in a world of anger and enmity, with millions of accusing fingers pointing directly at them. Out of a frantic struggle to survive they may end up pulling under and drowning those that would seek to save them: their brother Christians who pray for their salvation and conversion to Catholicism. Those that really care.
When is the last time Pastor Hagee, The Meatball, prayed to Jesus for (or asked others to pray for) the conversion of the Jews to Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular? The first Christians were martyred for their beliefs. The overfed Meatball wouldn’t even skip a plate of spaghetti and meatballs for his…
Like Fr. Malachi Martin said, “the twin footprints of God in history are Judaism and Christianity.”
God’s always got an eye on the Jewish people and a trick up his sleeve when comes to the destiny of those that rejected him. Again salvation comes from the Jews. Jesus, his mother Mary and the Apostles were all Jewish. Let’s leave it at that…
[Quote: That phrase — “salvation is from the Jews” — comes directly from the Gospel of John 4:22, where Jesus is speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well: “You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.” (John 4:22) Salvation — ultimately fulfilled in Jesus himself — comes through the Jewish people. This refers to God’s covenant with Abraham, the giving of the Law, the Prophets, and the promises.]
