Note: My dad took me to see Elbridge’s grandfather, the late William Colby, former head of the CIA in the 1970s when he spoke at Santa Clara University (near San Jose, in the SF Bay Area where I grew up). It was interesting, even for a kid.
Trump needs to aggress China economically, like Iran, to destabilize and weaken them so their people rise up and call for a better life through democracy. At the same time we need to deny them technology and focus on bolstering free Asian countries as a bulwark for civil rights and democracy, against China and as a passive assault to the legitimacy of the Chinese regime. A sort of benign neglect of China in favor of other regional powers. In other words, build alliances and triangulate them: psychopoltics.
But always backed by the big stick of our powerful military (hard power) & economic warfare/conflict/strategy (softer power). See author & CIA consultant Jim Rickards for currency wars.

Groton and Harvard & voted for Trump? Cool. My Army roommate buddy went to Deerfield Academy and the Columbia U. MBA program and voted for Trump…and served his country as an Army Counterintelligence Agent.
As for me? I’m a state school guy who turned down West Point…the hell do I know?
