If people criticize features of or issues with the Israeli government, politics and certain Jews – that are destructive of Israel, America and moral considerations – this doesn’t mean they hate Israel or Jews. Though some clearly do. Hatred goes both ways. So does psychological projection.
Much of the New Testament and Old Testament is the prophets criticizing the errant Jews of their time. Some things never change. But not everyone who criticizes Israel or Jews is a prophet.
Legitimate criticism, without fear of being hurt or destroyed for speaking up, is the America way. However, one must back his words with substance and in a spirit of charity. So many people think that they’re defending Israel, when really, they have no idea what the hell they’re talking about. They make emotionally-based value decisions and judgments, like the Liberals do. Many bend political and religious truth to suit their fancy and adjust their public views to fit their private vendettas, prejudices and hatreds.
Again, hatred goes both ways. So does psychological projection.
Some use the term “Judeo/Christian” as long it denotes a view or sect of Christianity, for instance errant Christian Zionism, that meets their propagandistic needs, wants, world view or political purposes. They conveniently neglect over a billion Catholic and Orthodox Christians whose world view was formed centuries before the doctrinal heresy of Christian Zionism ever set foot on the planet.
Again, if you’re Jewish or Christian and believe Jews should have a homeland in Israel I agree. But don’t tack on all the other doctrinal and doctrinaire incidentals that go along with it: like killing everyone in Gaza, Amalek style, as Netanyahu suggested. Keep it simple. Don’t tell me I have to agree with every apocalyptic doxy you cook up in your free-wheeling, fundamentalist, end times imagination. And don’t drag America with you on your phantasmagoric ride into cataclysmic oblivion…
Certainly none of the great Catholic Saints and doctors of the Church of Jewish heritage – Like St. Teresa of Avila or St. John of the Cross – were Christian Zionists nor would they have approved of it. Though St. Teresa, as a young child, wanted to join the Christian Crusades to liberate the Holy land from the invading Muslim hordes. Her pious and militant sentiments were formed young, as is the case historically in many saints and mystics. St. Joan of Arc’s efforts to liberate France, as a teenager, for instance.
Israel does not set the ground rules for free speech in America, though they certainly have an influence politically… This needs to be called out whenever, wherever by whomever against those that would seek to infringe on our inalienable rights. Netanyahu included.
I’m a Catholic, but I’ve hammered the churchmen who’ve wrought havoc with their Satanic ritual abuse, promotion of the LGBTQ lifestyle, Globalism, Marxism, errant theology and destruction of the Christian tradition, in various forms. It doesn’t mean I hate the Catholic Church or priests in general. Though many are worthy of contempt…
Someone must sound the alarm, like Paul Revere. And doing so is often the path of greatest resistance, entailing suffering, condemnation and tribulation.
If you’re paying a price for speaking the truth, you’re better off than someone speaking lies for money, fame, influence or power. Don’t forget the lie of omission: failing to speak up because you cut a deal with someone for something you want. At least in speaking up for truth, you have a moral vision backed by action. In a word, authenticity.
Many good points were made in this video. Never forget, Jesus was an observant and pious Jew…
Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom dictates that the modern state of Israel in general, and Jews in particular, are not above reproach and must be held to account in the court of public opinion, on a case by case basis–just like everyone else.
If you don’t like it, I’m sure there’s more than one patriotic American willing to buy you a one-way ticket to Palookaville on the Chattanooga Choo Choo…
Just get ready to get hammered if you speak out. Intolerance to criticism seems to reign supreme in today’s self-serving and narcissistic political economy–and free speech has no immunity from the psychopathology.
