I’m sure in person he’s a nice guy, but…
Although informed he seems out of touch with the pulse of America. Anything short of carte blanche support for Israel is labelled as isolationist. Moral restraint and sober assessment of the situation aren’t bad things. Not to mention looking before you leap and anticipating fallout, blowback and unintended consequences… For him, there simply isn’t enough time for such trivialities.
Time seems compressed to him. There’s so many ideas swirling around in his head his mouth can’t spit them out fast enough. In this sense, he’s a man of action. And the action is in his reaction. Reacting to perceived threats, he spits out words like bullets from a machine gun. Hence, no need for him to suit up and actually join the US or Israeli Armies and fight. He’s already a veteran of a thousand verbal wars…
He’s also jittery in his presentation. But wedded to his dark, foreboding, immobile eyebrows, the villainous lack of animation in his face is almost pathological–jitters not withstanding. His support Israel or the nukes will fly ultimatum doesn’t leave much wiggle room for the exercise of soft power and diminution of collateral damage.
In addition to being a bit heavy-handed, there’s something wrong with the overall Shapiro package. His obsession with everything Israel seems to border on monomania and eclipse even his supposed concern for the survival of traditional America.
I hope he’s not one of these “America is just a placeholder for timeless ideas” people (with Israel being the exception—and better than America?) like Charlie Kirk [See the nonsensical Charlie Kirk quote below]. When America liberated Europe from the Nazis and fascism, it took a hell of a lot more than ideas to get the job done.
This might account for the seeming lack of passion in defending America’s borders while defending Israel’s so vociferously. If he had as much moral outrage over our open border and illegal alien invasion, we might actually make some progress toward safeguarding our diminishing way of life.
He also appears to lack wisdom, counsel and understanding. He was a big anti-Trumper who couldn’t see the obvious for obvious reasons. Thank God Americans didn’t listen to him and instead voted Trump into power, or there would have been no Abraham Accords or U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
I’m not sure who pushed him to get this far in the media but his success doesn’t appear organic or merit based, say, like Tucker Carlson’s. The Establishment seems to have allotted him to us. But it doesn’t matter because Ben has allotted himself the moral high ground.
His quick, nimble tongue leaves the average listener overwhelmed and confused. Just as you grasp one of the ideas presented, he leaps onto another leaving the beholder baffled…baffled with BS that is.
I do admire his passion though. He’s passionate and yet even more intense when on the warpath volunteering American blood and treasure “por la causa” (for the cause). The passion of Ben Shapiro. Uncle Ben knows best what’s best for America and her “teaming masses…” Or does he?
(T)he worst are full of passionate intensity…
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
