I was having a burger with my mom at Portillo’s in Scottsdale tonight. We were discussing how crazy the world was. We spoke about Biden wanting to give tens of billions more in U.S. foreign aid to Ukraine, much of it to pay the salaries of their government workers.
We spoke of the Russians hitting Poland with missiles and the prospect of NATO involvement as a result.
We mused that if Trump were in office the war in Ukraine would have ended already because Trump would have had Zelensky on the phone getting him to compromise with Russia to avert a larger, potentially global conflict.
I said she was lucky to have seen and experienced the sweep of history from her birth to now and some of America’s best years: from the golden 1950s to the crazy 2020s. Being born in 1942 afforded her a unique and interesting perspective.
I thought to myself, hmm…Michael Savage was also born in 1942. He’s seen the same thing, the same sweep of history. Just as the thought of Michael Savage being born in 1942 came to mind the song “Blue Monday” came on in the burger joint, cranked up loud.
Any fan of his show knows he used to open every Monday show with that Fats Domino song.
I laughed and said to my mom, “do you know what a synchronicity is?” She said “yes.” I said “Yes. It’s a coincidence with moral or spiritual significance.” I said to her that as soon as I thought in my head that Savage was also born in 1942, the song we were hearing came on.
Basically, they’re equal in age and have witnessed the same amazing era in America’s existence, though through different eyes.
And that, folks, was my synchronicity…
